incredible trip: <strong>visiting Ecuador by motorcycle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I was visiting a friend who owns a charming inn on the seaside in <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.tripadvisor.ca\/Tourism-g3236045-Crucita_Manabi_Province-Vacations.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Crucita<\/a>. Therefore, I decided that I would spend 3 weeks discovering this country that was foreign to me. I also knew that I wanted to ride a motorcycle. <strong>What a pleasure to be able to combine my two passions: travelling and motorcycles!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;29135&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The story really started during the Motorcycle Show. At that time, I already knew I was going to Ecuador; I had already bought my ticket.<\/p>\n<p>I walk down the aisles of the show, visiting different dealerships, and then, like a mirage, I see a<strong> rental and tour booth in Ecuador.<\/strong> I rub my eyes; what are the odds?<\/p>\n<p>I met Court at this booth, who is the owner of Ecuador Freedom Bike Rental. I chatted with him a bit and collected some information. When I went to visit the company&#8217;s website, I knew right away that THIS is where I was going to rent my bike. Not only did I want to rent my bike there, but I wanted to do one of their<strong> self-guided tours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;29117&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Before telling you about my crazy adventure, I want to take the time to tell you about this magnificent company that will undoubtedly make you want to go on an adventure in Ecuador.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ecuador_Freedom_Bike_Rental\"><\/span><b>Ecuador Freedom Bike Rental<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;29076&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Founded in 2009 by the lovely Sylvain and Court, the company is designed and thought for real adventure lovers.<\/p>\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/freedombikerental.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ecuador Freedom Bike Rental<\/a> , you can simply rent a motorcycle, a 4X4, a scooter, a bicycle or choose from guided tours or self-guided tours.<\/p>\n<p>You can choose from longer or shorter tours depending on your needs and desires, or simply rent a vehicle; <strong>this is where the strength of their company lies.<\/strong> No matter what kind of traveller you are, you will find what you are looking for!<\/p>\n<p>When I got there, I was impressed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/freedombikerental.com\/en\/motorcycle-4x4-rental\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">number of bikes available<\/a>. There are bikes for all types of roads and riders. When you arrive, a wonderful team takes care of you with passion and good humor, so that you immediately feel part of the family and<strong> you feel confident<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>They stand out from other companies with little extras such as<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>unlimited mileage,<\/li>\n<li>24-hour assistance,<\/li>\n<li>they replace your bike in case of breakage,<\/li>\n<li>they offer very spacious cases on all bikes,<\/li>\n<li>no hidden fees and so on!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Much appreciated little extras!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;29119&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Self-guided_tour\"><\/span><b>Self-guided tour<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I finally chose the self-guided tour, more precisely the <a style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: &#039;PT Serif&#039;, serif;\" href=\"https:\/\/freedombikerental.com\/en\/articles\/89-self-guided-tours\/7-day\/77-self-guided-cloudforest-coast-and-craters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Self-Guided Cloudforest, Coast and Craters Tour<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: 'PT Serif', serif;\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;29121&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Originally, it is a <strong>7-day tour, but it can also be extended or adapted according to your needs.<\/strong> As I wanted to visit my friend in Crucita, they added a stop in this village. So I completed the first two days of the tour and then took a short 10-day break at my friend&#8217;s place. Once these 10 days were over, I went back on the road for the five remaining days of the tour.<\/p>\n<h5><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_most_interesting_thing_was_that_I_was_able_to_keep_my_bike_during_my_stay_in_Crucita\"><\/span>The most interesting thing was that I was able to keep my bike during my stay in Crucita.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;re wondering:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>What exactly is a self-guided tour?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s like a guided tour, but without a guide! You leave with a<strong> pre-programmed GPS,<\/strong> with a precise itinerary and a bunch of places where you can stop. I was given a <strong>detailed itinerary for each day,<\/strong> including the number of kilometers, the places to see, the altitude, the driving time with stops&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Court also made sure to <strong>explain to me the day-by-day route<\/strong>, <strong>giving me precious tips.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;29127&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]On your GPS, <strong>you can even choose if you want more or less off-road<\/strong>. Each day is presented with the option of paved roads or off-road. Depending on your mood in the morning, you can choose if you feel<em> wild<\/em> and want to take the roads off the beaten path or if you want a more relaxed day on the paved roads. I loved this feature!<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>I&#8217;m not much of a tour girl, but this is the perfect compromise. <strong>You go on an adventure, but with some structure.<\/strong> The hotels are booked in advance, you have options to stop for dinner, suggestions for activities, in short you are guided, but still in control of your day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"My_Motorcycle\"><\/span>My Motorcycle<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As I mentioned above, the choice of bikes at Ecuador Freedom Bike Rental is impressive. I chose the <a href=\"https:\/\/freedombikerental.com\/en\/articles\/72-vehicles\/motorcycles\/250cc\/243-dirt-bike-rental-hero-xpulse-200\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hero XPulse 200<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why this motorcycle? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For its<strong> exceptional handling<\/strong>. I knew I was going to do a lot of off-roading. I didn&#8217;t want a motorcycle that was too big or too tall &#8211; even though mine is very tall &#8211; because I was going to venture into the unknown. I needed to feel confident and in control, and that&#8217;s exactly what this motorcycle gave me. I loved it!<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Court suggested this motorcycle to me and I&#8217;m so glad I listened to him.
