We\u2019re not brave. We\u2019re just here.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">There\u2019s something deeply strange about being congratulated for turning a key. Whether you\u2019re on a motorcycle, behind the wheel of a UTV, or riding a snowmobile on a trail \u2014 the reaction is always the same: \u201cWow, you do that?\u201d As if simply being a woman makes it exceptional.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">I\u2019m not exceptional. I\u2019m a rider. I\u2019m a driver. I\u2019m a girl who loves engines. That\u2019s it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">But here\u2019s where we still are in 2026: a woman sending an ATV through the mud, pushing a snowmobile in the backcountry, nailing a tight corner in karting, going on a solo motorcycle road trip, or riding a Sea-Doo as the driver rather than the passenger \u2014 it\u2019s still a topic. It raises eyebrows. It generates comments. And when the media covers it, it\u2019s still too often with a tone of wonder, as if they\u2019ve just discovered a new species.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We\u2019re still there. The gap isn\u2019t a lack of talent or interest. It\u2019s a lack of space. A lack of funding. A lack of visibility. And above all, an environment that, without meaning to, tells us every single day that this isn\u2019t quite our world.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;40308&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"THE_DAILY_REALITY_WE_ALL_LIVE\"><\/span>THE DAILY REALITY WE ALL LIVE<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">At dealerships, they talk to my partner before they talk to me. At the gas station, they ask if it\u2019s my bike or my boyfriend\u2019s. At family dinners, they tell me to \u201cbe careful\u201d as if the guys at the table aren\u2019t riding the same roads. At gear shops, they hand me something pink before asking what I\u2019m looking for. And on social media, a photo of me on my machine generates more comments about my appearance than about my ride.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">When I show up to a group ride, they assume I\u2019m someone\u2019s girlfriend. When I talk about mechanics, they check with a guy to see if what I said is accurate. When I want to try a more powerful snowmobile, they suggest I \u201cmaybe start with something lighter.\u201d And when I post an ATV video, the first comment is rarely about my technique\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>It\u2019s not that we want a seat at the table. We\u2019re already at the table. We just want people to stop looking surprised to see us there.<\/i><\/span><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;40310&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">These aren\u2019t insults. They\u2019re reflexes. Automatic responses built over decades of marketing that put guys on every poster and girls in bikinis next to the machines. And reflexes can sometimes cause as much damage as intention.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"BUT_THINGS_ARE_MOVING\"><\/span>BUT THINGS ARE MOVING<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It would be dishonest to say nothing is changing. In 2025, nearly 80 women raced in Formula 4 championships around the world \u2014 a record. Initiatives like Girls on Track, F1 Academy, and Women in Motorsports North America are opening doors that were closed ten years ago.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Here in Quebec, we\u2019re lucky to have a motorsports culture stronger than anywhere else in the country \u2014 64% of Quebecers are in favor, compared to barely 50% in the rest of Canada. We have snowmobile and ATV trail networks among the largest in the world. We have events, federations, communities. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The foundation is there. We just need women to be fully included \u2014 not as a separate category, but as a given.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;40329&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The reality is we\u2019ve been here a long time. We ride, we drive, we fall, we get back up, we keep going. On pavement, on trails, on water, on snow \u2014 we\u2019re here. We buy our own machines, make our own mechanical choices, plan our own routes. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Women win motocross championships. Women cross continents on motorcycles. Women dominate in endurance racing. Women lead snowmobile expeditions in conditions where half the world would stay home.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">And it\u2019s not just in motorsports.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It\u2019s the female mechanics who can diagnose a problem just as fast as anyone else in the shop \u2014 yet still get a basic explanation of how an engine works. It\u2019s the female truck drivers who rack up thousands of miles alone on the country\u2019s highways. It\u2019s the heavy equipment operators moving tons of earth every day on job sites where their presence still surprises people. The engine, the wheel, the machine \u2014 no matter the industry, the reflex is the same: surprise before respect.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We\u2019re everywhere. And everywhere, we\u2019re still waiting for normality.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">And yet, every time one of us accomplishes something \u2014 in any motorsport \u2014 it\u2019s presented as some kind of heartwarming anomaly. An exception that confirms the rule.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>I refuse that narrative.<\/b><\/span><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;40331&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"WHAT_NEEDS_TO_CHANGE\"><\/span>WHAT NEEDS TO CHANGE<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>To the industry: <\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">stop offering us \u201cwomen\u2019s machines\u201d and offer us machines. Period. Train your sales staff to talk to the person standing in front of them, not the person they came with. Develop quality gear in sizes that actually fit us \u2014 not pink versions of what already exists.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>To the media: <\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">stop treating a woman who performs in motorsport as a feel-good story. Treat her like an athlete. Stop presenting us in constant contrast to men. By 2026, we shouldn\u2019t need the phrase \u201cfirst woman to\u2026\u201d anymore. We should just be the person who did it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>To the community: <\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">when a girl shows up to your ride, your club, your trail for the first time \u2014 welcome her the way you\u2019d welcome anyone. Not with a condescending compliment, not with surprise, not with a question about who brought her. Just a nod and a \u201cwelcome.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>And to the women still hesitating: <\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">get on. Turn the key. Hit the throttle. There\u2019s no right way to start. There\u2019s no machine too big, no trail too tough, no group too advanced if that\u2019s what you want. Don\u2019t ask for permission. The only requirement is the desire.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">A woman who rides isn\u2019t extraordinary. She\u2019s ordinary. And that\u2019s exactly where we want to be.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">So yes, let\u2019s keep talking about women in motorsports. Let\u2019s keep showing them, naming them, celebrating what they accomplish. But let\u2019s change how we do it. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Not like it\u2019s a surprise. Not like it\u2019s a favor. Like it\u2019s reality. Because the day we talk about a woman who rides the same way we talk about a guy who rides \u2014 no filter, no gender qualifier, no excessive wonder \u2014 that day, we won\u2019t need articles like this one anymore.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Until then, we keep going. We ride.
