11 beautiful landscapes seen by truckers

Work, travel and see the country!

Being a truck driver  gives you the opportunity to see sites that only a few people will ever discover. According to a 2013 study, 67% of people living in Quebec only travel within Quebec.  Our province has a lot of amazing places to see, but most of our population will never get the chance to visit the other wonderful sites Canada and the USA have to offer. A truck driver has this opportunity.

I conducted a survey; I spoke to drivers and I made a list of the most beautiful views a long–distance trucker gets to see. If you are like me and you dream about travelling or if you simply like to see pictures of beautiful places, you are at the right place!

Are you ready? Here is the count! ?

1. Kicking horse pass, BC

The Kicking Horse Pass is a high mountain pass that goes across the Rockies, crossed by the Trans Canada road. This passageway is between Alberta and British Columbia at an altitude of 1627m.

Fun fact: The name of this passageway comes from an accident dating back to 1858, when a man was trying to save a horse from the river. The man was kicked in the chest and fell in the river. His friends thought he was dead and started to dig his grave. Thankfully, 4 hours later the man woke up surprising everyone. To honor his story, they named the river Kicking Horse and the passageway Kicking Horse Pass.

2. Robson, BC

For the second place, we are going to stay in the Rockies. The Mount Robson is situated inside Mont Robson Provincial Park, in BC. Some people also call it Cloud Cap Mountain, Snow Cap Mountain, Yuh-Hai-Has-Kun or The Mountain of the Spiral Road.

Due to weather, people say the peak is only visible for approximately 14 days a year. This place is a must see for sure.

3. Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City is a town in Utah, USA, that offers spectaculars views. It is the most popular recommendation I get when I asked people for the best sight, and we can easily understand why when we see the pictures.

trucker

4. Vancouver Island

With an area with a size comparable to Belgium, it is the biggest Island on the West coast. Vancouver Island is 460Km long and is the second most populated canadian island, after Montreal of course. With the Pacific Ocean as a border, you can guess the unbelievable views Vancouver Island has to offer.

trucker

5. Virgin River, Arizona

Virgin River crosses Arizona for approximately 30 miles, which is where those pictures were taken. The hills bordering the river look very similar to the views you can see from the Grand Canyon. It is surely impressive to drive on this part of the US 80.

6. Baie-James

Everyone knows about Baie-James, but not everyone has had the chance to see it. Baie-James is 350 000 km of boreal forests, Taigas, rivers, and lakes. Over there, all the proportions are excessively large. If you are driving at night, you could even have the chance to see the Aurora borealis!

trucker

7. New-Mexico

According to Google Maps, it takes 32 hours to travel to New-Mexico from Montreal. Is it worth it? I think so, if you look at this picture! A sunset as beautiful as this you cannot see that anywhere else, especially not in the metropolis.

8. Ice Road

Some prefer nice and warm weather; others are not scared of the cold, and sometimes, it pays off! The ice roads are wonderful to see. Everywhere you look is white and blue and it would be so special to drive on them. When you are driving on the ice roads, you must watch your speed. A limit is set to avoid forming waves that could break the ice. Driving on these roads must be an exhilarating feeling.

9. US 80, Elko, Nevada

There is not a lot to say about this town, except that it is gorgeous. I do not think that I am the only one who likes mountain ranges.

trucker

10. The Dalles, Oregon

This picture was taken in a small town in Oregon and without knowing why, it got my attention. You will probably tell me that the view is not extraordinary, but I would totally escape for a ride to these hills.

trucker

11. Route 66, Newberry Springs, California

To end beautifully, this is a picture that I love of the legendary Route 66 near Newberry Spring. No matter what you drive, any enthusiast would dream of driving on Route 66. The road is 3665 km long, and it runs through 3 times zones and 8 states. The dream,

Do you want more? Me too! ?

Voila! This is a little snapshot of all pictures I have seen or received, and it gives a good idea of what all the truckers get the chance to see. Now that I put all these beautiful pictures in your head, you are going to want to set up your next road trip, right? So where are you going to go? Or what is a beautiful place you saw while driving?

Send us your pictures!
