One try of the 2022 Sea-Doo Switch pontoon will charm you, I’m sure!
It is in the enchanting landscapes of Montebello that I had the chance to discover and try the new 2022 Sea-Doo Switch pontoons.
No need to tell you that I was very excited about the idea of having the chance to try this new product that has been the talk of the town, before anyone else!
At the same time, my excitement came from the fact that I have not driven many boats, I am more used to personal watercraft…
So here, I’m not going to talk about all the technical details or the motorization (we already did that in another article and in our podcast), but I’m going to talk about my “feeling” of a girl who is not used to driving pontoons!
As easy as Legos
From the very first glance, the look won me over. I love the bright colors used by the Sea-Doo team and also the curved design of the Switch. The transparent canvases at the bottom of the boat really make it look big and immersed in the water. Sea-Doo has really succeeded in giving its DNA to these new pontoons.
As soon as I step aboard, I quickly notice the modularity of the boat. It’s as easy to adapt the 2022 Sea-Doo Switch pontoon to your needs as it is to play with Lego blocks!
The modular deck of the Sea-Doo pontoons allows you to add, remove or move all the elements inside the boat. The best part is that it’s done without tools and it’s super easy!
Even the top and canvas are easy to use!
So you can add features as your passions and needs change.
Already, I like it a lot!
A beginner at the controls of the 2022 Sea-Doo Switch pontoon
Sea-Doo’s goal is clear: to make the world of pontoons accessible to everyone, regardless of experience, and to rejuvenate the image of this type of boat.
I was in a good position to verify this point, as I am a beginner in the world of boats and pontoons. I have experience on the water, but more on the watercraft side.
Right away, I could tell that it was easy to drive because of the watercraft handlebars that I am already used to. So after only a few minutes, I felt comfortable driving it.
The learning curve is short and it is very intuitive to drive. In addition to being simple, its handling is dynamic and very responsive, even at low speeds. The boat can turn on itself easily and quickly.
Whatever maneuvers you want to make, you can do them efficiently at low or high speed. In addition, you can benefit from the cruise control, which allows you to enjoy your ride to the fullest!
Its brake and reverse system really gave me confidence and with these features, parking a boat like this has never been easier. Mooring a boat is a concern for many people, myself included, so it’s a relief to know that it’s simple with the Switch. If you ever miss, since the hull is plastic, there’s less chance of breakage.
Interestingly, these are the same Rotax engines as the personal watercrafts. Since the engine is not outboard, space is maximized and the draft is less important. Another stress less!
It’s really the watercraft feeling, but on a pontoon.
It must be said that it was really designed to free you from the stresses of driving a pontoon boat, especially when you are a beginner, like me!
Anecdote from a gaffer…
During the event, we had the chance to be filmed and photographed and I have a little anecdote about that…
I am the queen of gaffes, while I was concentrated to follow the instructions for the camera, two big waves surprised me (the other people on board and me). Even though it was a bit of a bumpy ride (understatement), I could see that the controls respond well, even in problematic situations, and that everything stays in place.
I won’t be afraid to go out on windier days, but I will keep an eye on the waves! Sorry again to all the passengers I “shuffled” ahah!

My heart went out to the 2022 Switch Sport model. I like the idea of the versatility of the Sport model. It allows you to bring a great gang with you and most importantly, it allows you to do water sports! Being a wakeboard lover, this aspect speaks to me a lot. I also have a weakness for the front lounge of the pontoon! It’s really comfortable and spacious!
That’s a yes, even for beginners
Basically, I must say that the bet is won for the Quebec company. In addition to a younger look, the Sea-Doo pontoon boat meets the needs of a less experienced clientele, but also the more experienced ones!
