Two beautiful days behind the wheel of a 2022 Audi Q5, who wouldn’t dream of it?

Thanks to  Audi Saint-Bruno, I had the privilege and the chance to test drive this car. Come on the passenger side and follow me at all the way behind the wheel of the 2022 Audi Q5 Progressiv S line .

First views

We have to admit, this SUV has a look that will turn heads. Its curves are well defined and flowing. Its S line spoiler gives it a certain elegance. Its 20-inch wheels also add a lot to its distinguished style.

Space-wise, a family with two children can be perfectly comfortable. Again, 4 adults will feel at ease in the Q5. However, I don’t recommend more than 4 people in order to be as comfortable as possible.

As soon as you enter the car, you recognize the luxury of Audi. Its interior is modern and well thought out. With the S line package, the front seats have a sporty look.

Of course, just like the steering wheel, the seats are heated and those in the front are electronically adjustable. There’s even an electric lumbar support, everything to be in comfort!

I have to admit that I love the panoramic sunroof, it creates space and light in the cabin!

Its console is complete with a 10.1 inch touch screen. Of course, there are all the technologies you would expect, Audi has not neglected anything. In this model, there’s even Alexa available!

If you’re a music lover, you’re going to enjoy Audi’s 10-speaker audio system.

Feeling of driving

The first word that comes to mind is comfort! Indeed, the Q5 is smooth to drive. I can imagine myself spending many hours behind the wheel. The suspension does a great job of protecting us from the hazards of Quebec roads. I’ll say it again, but the smoothness is really there.

In addition, the cabin is very quiet, which is very pleasant, even at high speeds.  Doing a lot of driving in a noisy vehicle can become very tiring. Behind the wheel of the Audi Q5, zenitude reigns!

If safety is important when making a purchase decision, the Audi is equipped with just about every feature to protect the driver and passengers. The vehicle warns of lane departure, when there is an obstacle while backing up or when someone is in the blind spot. There is even a first aid kit!

These technologies are found in many vehicles now and the Q5 is no exception.

Performance and fuel economy

Under the hood is the 2.0L, 4-cylinder TFSI engine with 12V mild hybrid drive.

A quick aside on mild hybridation, many must be wondering what exactly that is.

Basically, mild hybrids reduce gas emissions and therefore save fuel in various ways, for example by turning off the engine when braking or when the vehicle is at a standstill.

The Audi Q5 is powered by a total of 261 hp. You can feel it, and when you ask for it, it gives it to you. The 273 ft-lbs of torque make for good acceleration, no matter what the rpm. The combination of comfort, luxury and performance make this a vehicle that will please many.

The 7-speed quattro S tronic transmission brings a very sporty feel to the Audi Q5. There is plenty of fun to be had!

The vehicle holds the road well, in the corners, you feel in control. The Audi Q5 literally sticks to the road. You feel stable and secure.

There is a little sporty side to this SUV that I really appreciated.

In terms of fuel consumption, it’s an SUV, so you’d expect higher fuel consumption. However, it’s not too bad with a 10.3L per 100km in the city and an 8.4L per 100km on the highway.

The S line package

When you buy your Audi Q5, there are different optional packages, like the S line for this test drive and that includes:

• 20″ 5-spoke blade-style wheels & all-season tires
• Black optics (grille and window surrounds)
• Black side mirrors, Black gloss center console
• Piano black appliques
• S line interior badge
• Black roof rails

All in all

I was very satisfied with the 2022 Audi Q5  and I’m not the only one since in Quebec, the Audi Q5 has been first in its class in the Audi line for several years. And that’s not surprising!

There are several models of Q5 and many possible configurations. Several engines are also available. The possibilities are there, you just have to make a choice.
