Motorcycling in Morocco: 5 Reasons Why It Will Be Your Next Trip!

If you had told me one day that I would ride a Royal Enfield in Africa, I never would have believed you.

Yet it was in Morocco that I rode my first kilometers on two wheels outside of Canada. When Cyndi Martin asked me to join her to represent Chicks and Machines, I was so excited that it took me a long time to realize what I had just signed up for.

I had never taken part in an organized motorcycle trip, and I had never imagined Morocco as a first destination. I was afraid of slowing down the group, unsure whether my motorcycle “skills” would be up to par, and honestly, this trip pushed me way out of my comfort zone — times 1000.

But when I saw the itinerary from Kouradi International, I knew I had nothing to worry about. Here are my 5 reasons why Morocco needs to be your next motorcycle travel destination!

1 – The Support

From the second you step out of the Marrakech airport, everything is taken care of by Kouradi International and its founder, Ibrahim Kouradi. When I learned that the bikes chosen for our trip would be Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Classics, I was skeptical. But I loved the idea of a small-displacement machine with character! As soon as you see it, you understand why they chose it.

Not too tall, not too low, perfect whether riding solo or two-up — this bike is ideal for the kind of riding we were about to do. Since the itinerary is mostly narrow roads with endless curves, you want a motorcycle that’s easy to handle and offers a simple, natural riding position.

With roughly 190 km per day on unfamiliar roads, comfort and ease are key. Its 500cc single-cylinder engine handles everything beautifully. Tight, twisty mountain roads, rural routes, backcountry paths — it just goes, and it performs well.

If it doesn’t win you over on day one, I promise that by the end of the week, you won’t want to ride anything else.

3 – The Landscapes

Jaw-dropping views, narrow roads, and curve after curve — a motorcyclist’s paradise! I wanted to stop every kilometer to capture the moment because each turn was more beautiful than the last.

I was completely charmed by Morocco and its landscapes: rugged, arid, lush, and dramatic all at once.

In Quebec, we’re not used to hairpins and switchbacks, so expect to put your motorcycle training to the test.

Speed isn’t the priority here — technique is. Besides, going too fast would only keep you from taking in the breathtaking scenery.

In just six days, you go from a mountain range with a lunch stop at 2100m of elevation, to a medieval castle in the middle of a valley, to a surf village by the ocean, to a fortified city on the Atlantic coast, passing red cliffs, blue rocks, and stone deserts along the way…

The only thing you’ll run out of is synonyms for the word “Incredible.”

4 – Moroccan Hospitality

Let me tell you how well we were welcomed! Everywhere we stopped, people were happy to share their country and culture with us. Whether in restaurants, accommodations, towns, or tiny villages, we always felt at home ♥️

That’s the kind of travel I love — discovering new places and getting off the beaten path.

I loved wandering through the big cities and markets. You meet lots of tourists — proof that Morocco is a popular destination.

5 – Pushing Your Limits

Six days on a motorcycle, in a foreign country, never sleeping in the same place twice, feeling intense emotions — trust me, the fatigue builds up fast. But every morning, you swing a leg over your bike and can’t wait to see what the day has in store.

Tight curves, stunning landscapes, incredible discoveries, and that proud feeling that hits you when you reach your destination — that’s what awaits you every day.

I’ll be honest with you: on day three, I crashed in a curve. Nothing serious, but a good scare and a reality check — you suddenly remember just how far from home you are!

Despite the fatigue, the fear, and yes, the feeling of having “failed,” I got back on my Royal Enfield and tackled the switchbacks and curves at my own pace, without pressure from anyone.

My motivation?

I reminded myself just how strong, brave, and capable women are.

It was an incredible experience — the kind you don’t get every day!

I discovered a country I knew nothing about, with a woman I adore, doing what I love most in the world: riding a motorcycle. What more could I ask for?

I never expected to fall so hard for Morocco… but here we are. And I fully intend to go back.
