What the airbag protects

When the vest inflates, the airbag surrounds the neck and protects the cervical in a very effective way.
– Complete vertebral protection
The deployment of the airbag in the back area allows a complete vertebral protection. This can avoid unfortunate and serious injuries on the road.

The air cushion inflates in the front, around the neck and at the back. This allows a superior protection for all the vital organs.
How it works
All Helite motorcycle gear is equipped with a CO2 cartridge that will inflate the vest or the jacket on impact. In case of a crash, the cord attached to the motorcycle will pull on the vest or jacket, the little ball will get out of its orbit and a sharp object pushed by a spring will perforate the CO2 cartridge, inflating the vest as fast as in 0.1 second. If you worry about your vest or jacket deploying itself if you forget to detach yourself from your bike, rest assured! It takes a pressure of 60 pounds to trigger that system so you are safe.

Test
During my visit at Helite Canada, I got the chance to test one of their products on the owner of the company and the jacket inflated instantly when it was supposed to. The head was well maintained, surrounded by the airbag, and the jacket resisted to the impact without any damage or any pain to the body.
Conclusion, strengths and improvement
In conclusion, Helite’s products offer an excellent quality and are really efficient. The airbag deploys ultra-fast and protects the most important parts of the body that could suffer the worst consequences without this superior protection.
Another positive point for women with a strong chest, the GP-R racetrack vest could offer a better fit because of its ultimate design.
Concerning the road airbag vest, I think the plastic clips could be wrapped in rubber to help protecting the motorcycle fuel tank better. But this is only a small detail that would help improve the product, bringing it even closer to perfection!
To sum up, nothing would never make me doubt about this intelligent purchase! The wearing of an airbag vest or jacket should be mandatory as it would prevent many injuries and save lives.
