What could be better than a snowmobile weekend with your girl friends in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean?
Imagine the scene: beautiful fresh snow crunching under your boots. The sky is clear blue, the cold air, pure and invigorating, adds a touch of color to your cheeks. All around, the conifers decorated with white powder add a touch of color to the winter scenery.
In the distance, the summit of a mountain to climb with the promise of a breathtaking view.
Adventure awaits you; you get on your snowmobile and, without further ado, you set off to discover kilometers of trails. Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean opens up to you in all its splendor and you know, at that moment, that the weekend is going to be magical.

The destination
If you’re looking for a place to go with your girl friends to enjoy the weekend this winter, consider visiting Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.
Also known as “Snowmobile Paradise”, Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean offers several magnificent trails all across the region. You can plan your girls’ weekend from start to finish: the place offers accommodations, food stops and rest stops, snowmobile rentals, and several maps and apps to plan your rides (like the interactive map and the FCMQ’s iMotoneige mobile app).
Whether you plan every minute of your trip or not, it’s important to consult the trails’ conditions maps so you don’t come face to face with a closed or impassable trail. Don’t forget to get your trail access permit!
No time to start planning a route? No problem!
You and your friends can check out the various circuits offered on the region’s website and make your choice according to your desires and abilities.
Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean is a relatively young region. Despite being the 3rd largest territorial division in Quebec, most of its inhabited areas are located along the lake. As a result, this leaves a huge natural playground filled with forests, rivers and mountains for the greatest pleasure of snowmobile enthusiasts.
The weekend
My friends and I decided to go with a route that is particularly popular with snowmobilers and that took our breath away: the tour of Lac Saint-Jean by snowmobile.
You and your group can go on an adventure on your own, but it is also possible to be accompanied by a guide. Équinox Aventure offers snowmobile rentals and guided excursions with a well-trained guide.
For our part, we decided to go just by ourselves to prove to ourselves that we are still a great team! 😉

First, we regroup in Alma to get a good night’s sleep at the Hôtel Universel. The hotel is really adapted to snowmobilers! I guess we are not the first to go there! Haha
The place offers a locked and supervised enclosure to put the machines in. So it was with peace of mind that we were able to enjoy our evening before settling under the covers and dreaming of the trails that awaited us the next day.
The hotel offers a spa, indoor pool, cinema, gym, restaurants and accommodation packages specific to snowmobilers! The region has this sport and the well-being of those who practice it very much at heart.

And here we go for a visit of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean!
In the morning, freshly rested, we hit the trails! Heading towards Saint-Félicien, we rode along the frozen lake. This view alone was worth the trip! Queen Elsa can go back to bed!
It’s more than 1000 km² of frozen water that sparkles in the sun. It’s majestic, peaceful. The place is very conducive to ice fishing, which is a highly popular winter activity in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.

Several restaurants, hotels and lodges dot the road to Saint-Félicien. We stopped to eat at the “cookerie” Le Draveur.
If you’ve never been there, it’s definitely something to put on your “bucket list”. The atmosphere is dynamic and you’ll receive the best service in the region!
The rest of the road went smoothly, as the sun slowly set. Finally arriving in Saint-Félicien, we prepared for a good night’s sleep at the Hôtel du Jardin. But first, a signature cocktail at their restaurant Le Baumier. A little girls night out where we laugh a lot.
Back in the saddle the next day, we rode to the Lac-des-Coudes relay and then continued around the lake for about 40 km.
Rather than continuing the tour of Lac Saint-Jean, we decided to try the 49th footbridge circuit. What a unique ride!
You’re heading into the heart of the boreal forest. The snow carpet is always beautiful. We crossed 9 footbridges that showed us the forest and some of the most beautiful rivers in Quebec. It was definitely worth the detour!

In the end
What a dream weekend! Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean was truly our snow paradise!
