Oh Muc-Off! A test of the sweetest smell cleaners

Muc-Off! Eco friendly and easy to use. How is this even possible? A product developed by riders for riders, Muc-Off has been offering an endless line of products since 1994. What started out as a need for a bike cleaner has grown into a passion for products that just makes sense for the professional fleet and the backyard ditch banger.

Vehicle cleaning and maintenance is key for the longevity as well as the resale value. How better to maintain your toys but with the line of Muc-Off products that make cleaning easy and maintenance a breeze. I had the pleasure of experiencing the ease of cleaning and protection firsthand as I tested a series of Muc-Off products, Motorcycle Cleaner, Speed Polish, Motorcycle Protectant, Silicone Shine and the Helmet, Visor & Goggle Cleaning Kit.

Not being familiar with the products and after receiving three deliveries with the selection of cleaning and maintenance products I had to do some research to see just what else they had to offer. As I mentioned, the list is endless, and the products have certainly proven themselves on a professional level for the motorized and non motorized bikes.

It was time to find out for myself what the products have to offer. You know how many products have a vague description of purpose and directions for use, Muc-Off does not leave you questioning. Each product clearly states the directions and benefits of use, and I was able to jump right into cleaning.

Let the cleaning begin!

Depending on the needs of the user, Muc-Off offers a multi-step series to clean and protect. Fresh out of winter storage, but not so fresh, I used the product to clean up and prepare the ATV for the season. With dust thick enough to engrave a message and some leftover grime from the previous season I used the Motorcycle Cleaner to remove the buildup of dirt by simply hosing down the vehicle and using the pump spray, I applied the cleaner and let it sit for a few minutes as directed.

The cleaner is safe for all surface types, so there was no concern for exposure to sensitive parts. Using a micro cloth, I wiped down the ATV to lift the dust and grime. Using a garden hose, the remaining dirt and spray rinsed clean. For tough grime you can agitate the area with a soft brush to loosen material before rinsing.

For the plastics I used the Silicone Shine. This product smells delicious like a cherry blossom. No harsh smells like you experience with most industrial cleaning products. As simple as spray on and wipe dry, it leaves a beautiful sheen and protects from dirt build-up making the next cleaning much easier.

Plastics with a matt finish tend to hold dirt making it tougher to clean. The Silicone Shine adds a barrier of protection to reduce the dirt from clinging to the plastic.

Wax on, wax off!

With most wax and polishes, you expect a white film and the need for some elbow grease to buff it in and make it shine. Not with the Muc-Off Speed Polish. Just wow! Another great smelling product that is easy to use. Made with pure Carnauba and Beeswax, it was truly a spray on and wipe in process that took me minutes to apply.

Time is so valuable and so are our toys why would I ever spend my time using another polish. The polish and the silicone shine are both water resistant and proved well as the water just beaded off the ATV while riding later that day.

There is nothing riskier to your vehicles then the dirt and water to which they are exposed. Metal parts and moving parts need the extra protection to reduce the potential for premature failure.

The Motorcycle Protectant helps disperse water and protect components from corrosion. This product is also great for seasonal storage and post cleaning to remove access water. If you are a rider who tends to venture through water ways or mucky areas, you will want to take the time to apply this product to ensure water is not holding up.

This is extra important for those who live near salt water. Just the salty air can cause rust and corrosion. We applied the protectant to the suspension system and by the end of the season we hope to get a better understanding of how well this product has done its job.

Clear view of the trail!

No rider is ready for the trail without a helmet. Whether you prefer a helmet with goggles or a visor, visibility is key. The goggle cleaning kit comes with a nifty pocket size bottle with a micro clothe and storage bag. We all know that as our day progresses on the trail our goggles are collecting dust water residue. A quick and easy cleaning along the trail helps clean and protect your lens.

No rider wants to spend more time cleaning their toys then riding them. I am impressed with the ease of application and cleaning that Muc-Off has to offer. Best of all the ATV smells like spring with the scent of cherry blossoms. During a visit to one of the local bicycle repair shops I noticed they stock a wide selection of Muc-Off bicycle products. I asked the technician what his thoughts were on the product, “it smells great, and the chain lubes come in a packable size when hitting the trails.” They use the products in house for servicing as well and I am looking forward to getting my mountain bike back to hit the trails.
