My date with a 2021 Ford F-150
The sun was out to meet the AutoForce Group. Why? To test drive a 2021 Ford F-150 Lariat from Ford Île-Perrot.
With the current shortage of cars in the world, I consider myself very lucky to have been able to spend a day behind the wheel of this workhorse.
For many people, the F-150 is synonymous to a reliable truck, and in fact, it is the best selling vehicle in North America. That’s not an understatement. For me, it’s a truck that allows me to practice all my favorite sports!
By the way, if you want to save $300 on your next purchase, read my article to the end!
Look and configuration
I have to say that the F-150s are beautiful and rugged looking trucks. Even though the redesign is subtle, it gives it a little je ne sais quoi that turns heads and aesthetically, it’s successful. Plus, I got a little extra, Chicks And Machines stickers on the truck! What a nice surprise and what a nice touch! The truck looked even better!
When you get in the truck, you can immediately see the luxurious touch of the Lariat model. Nothing has been spared: leather seats, a spacious interior, a panoramic sunroof, the works!
The 12.1-inch touch screen completes the package. We can say that the F-150’s interior is a success and that it stands out from the competition.

A great choice of models and engines
The model we tested was the Lariat, but you can choose from six other versions: Raptor, XL, XLT, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited. You’re sure to find one that suits your needs.
The vehicle I shared my day with was equipped with the EcoBoost 2.7L 6 cylinder turbo engine. It develops 325hp with 400lb. ft. of torque.
The engine averages 12L/100km city, 9.3L/100km highway and 11L/100km combined. Not bad for a truck. However, expect a significant increase if you attach a trailer.
In addition to this engine, Ford offers several other options, including a very interesting hybrid version.
If you’re concerned about the environment, this is an attractive option. The PowerBoost version consumes less without losing power with its 430 horsepower and a surprising 570 lb-ft of torque with a combined average consumption of 9.8 L/100 km.
I really like this engine option.
As nothing is perfect…
One day is not enough time to test a vehicle from all angles. However, the F-150 is a very complete truck, but very expensive. It is not suitable for all budgets.
As I said, there are countless configurations to choose from, which can be an advantage or a disadvantage, because it’s easy to get lost and end up with a rather expensive bill.
Who is it for?
Who is this beast of the road for? Certainly, if you are in the construction business, this vehicle can meet all your needs and become your best friend. Depending on the model you choose, you will find a powerful generator. Not to mention its towing capacity and its loading capacity. There’s even a built-in measuring tape on the interior door.
Of course, the F-150 is also suitable for people who practice various motorsports like the girls from Chicks And Machines.
In short, if you need space, cargo capacity and plenty of towing capacity, this truck will meet your needs.

My test drive
I only had a day behind the wheel of the Ford F-150 Lariat, so I didn’t get to test it out thoroughly. However, I appreciate the comfort inside as well as the driving experience. Since I do a lot of driving, comfort is of utmost importance in my choice of vehicle.
I can see myself loading up my snowmobile and heading out on the snowy roads without stress. The many driving modes allow me to travel all terrains without fear: Normal, ECO, Sport, Towing/Towing, Slippery, Deep Snow/Sand, Mud/Ridge (4×4 only). The feeling of safety is very present at the wheel of the F-150 and on Quebec roads, it is a “must”.
The engine is powerful and the vehicle is spacious, I feel that it will be able to meet all my loading and towing needs, regardless of the cars and equipment I want to transport. Considering my environmental values, I would go more towards the hybrid engine or the electric engine, soon available.
All the latest technologies are there. We are far from our parents’ “pick-ups” WITHOUT technology. We are in the luxury and in the modernity. Think of a technology, it will be there without a doubt.

In short
The price range depending on the model chosen is from $31,729 to $86,725. The model tested (Lariat with High) is valued at $76,608.
